Igor Chapurin showcased garments with various types of sleeves: flutter, bell, bishop’s, bat, for dresses and blouses and wider ones for the coats. Designer employs several styles at once: delicate tier-like skirts with multiple layers of wide bands and petals, decorated folds, trains, floral patterns, all that soften brutal black, leather belts and formal vertically stretched silhouettes. Semi-transparent fabrics went along with the beaded scale dresses that flattered the models. The invisible rushing up axis is structured by accessories and details: lengthy necklaces performed in the shape of black chains, round golden buttons of the coat, curved fancy zippers on the jumpsuits. Designer played with the colour array: beige and black, grey and white, sandy lemon, along with the floral patterns and geometry featured in lines and squares. The collection distinctly featured the elements of urban culture, individual philosophy and synthesis of femininity and brutalism.

Fashion shows of designers-participants were widely covered by global media. Over 50 international journalists and photographers attended the 32nd Season of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Russia, among them: Vogue USA, Vogue Italia, L’Officiel France, L’Officiel China, The Calvert, Fashionista, NOWFASHION, WGSN, Highsnobiety and others. International experts appreciated the work of Russian designers.

“Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Russia presented the latest collections in the stunning ‘Manege’ Hall in the center of Moscow which already set us all in the mood to enjoy the shows. It was very interesting to discover Russians’ love for fashion but what was the most exciting was the variety of designers showcasing their creations. From brands such as established couture designer Slava Zaitsev and fur designer Igor Gulyaev to feminine and sophisticated Alena Akhmadullina, Georgian designer Tako Mekvabidze and Ukrainian designer Yasya Minochkina or Ksenia Knyazeva who took us back to the best of the twenties and femme fatale days. Another highlights also included designers Ivka and her avant-garde approach and Salle de Mode’s all black and silver shades. The versatility of MBFWRussia also shined with Project-runway winner Dima Neu who stood-out with his Snow-Queen inspired theatrical performance and designers really appealing to a younger and more urban generation such as Sorry I’m Not with provocative and playful looks and Dasha Gauser with her chemical prints. This was a successful season for Russian designers and we are looking forward to seeing more of them in the future” — Gregory Kohler, nowfashion.com

“We see a lot of creativity and a lot of great talent. Fashion Futurum is a really great idea. I know it’s the first time, but I think it’s successful. I had a chance to talk to a lot of Italian schools. People at the other panels were discussing very important topics, and I really hope there will be a number two or a number three, as it’s really a good idea to just stop one moment and think about the future. I think Fashion Futurum will be interesting for and international audience because it’s interesting how England or France or other countries organize their industries, and I think it will be great if it is open to the whole world” — Sara Azzone, Istituto Europeo Di Design Moda Milan Director

“Everything is very new for me here, it’s my first time at Russian Fashion Week. I must say that there’s a very nice energy going around; it’s the energy that you breathe when something is at the start, there’s fresh energy, people wish to do something important for the future so it’s very nice” — Carlo Capasa, President of Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana, Chief Executive Officer of Costume National.

“I think that initiatives like Fashion Futurum are very important because these are platforms where you exchange ideas but they are also platforms for networking where you on an international level meet people from the industry, museums, curators, journalists. I love to be present on events like this because it gives me the opportunity to discover Russian fashion but it also gives me an opportunity to exchange ideas with professionals and local audiences and it’s great to hear what local designers and students think. Fashion is a global thing, so this international exchange is super important” — Kaat Debo, Director of Mode Museum Antwerpen Momu.

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Russian was attended by renown fashion illustrators like Jae Suk Kim, Sasha Spring, Veronica Kemsky and artists of the drawing studio Draw&Go who pictured the brightest moments of the Fashion Week.
